The Yorkshire coast is one of the best places in the UK for a holiday. In my opinion the best place along that coastline has to be Robin Hood’s Bay.
In recent years Robin Hood’s Bay has gone through a transformation from a small fishing haven in to a very popular tourist attraction – so much so that it even tops the Tripadvisor list as the best place to visit on the Yorkshire coast. Now more than ever it’s very easy to find yourself a nice hotel in Robin Hoods Bay, perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring.
It still is a small fishing village but a village with numerous things to see and do. People flock to a place they also call ‘Bay Town’ for a number of reasons.
Just a few miles from Robin Hoods Bay you will find Sneaton Forest. The reason for visiting the forest is to take in the beauty of the Falling Foss Waterfall and Tea Garden. You can stroll through the forest, and then relax as you take in the beauty of the waterfall and tea garden.
To get the best views of must be sure to stop by the Old Coastguard Station. There, in the visitor and education center, people can learn how such a beautiful landscape was naturally formed at Robin Hoods Bay.
History is one of the biggest draws to Robin Hoods Bay. If you love learning about history then head to Robin Hoods Bay Museum, here you can learn about fishing, shipping and smuggling history of the Bay. Smuggling is a major part of the history here, so reading about how people smuggled goods and also the common occurrence of shipwrecks makes for a good day out. Old St Stephen’s Church is also on the list for you history buffs out there. It has a breath taking view overlooking Robin Hoods Bay, plus memorials to those that lost their lives when their ships were wrecked on the rocks.
On top of all this people just simply enjoy being by the coast. If you’re a food lover then you’re in for a real treat because you’ll find several local restaurants cooking up great British food!
