Visiting America has always been a dream of mine and this year I will finally be taking the leap. I don’t know why it has taken me so long to get round to visiting the most famous country on the planet! I feel like I know the country so well, as I am sure many of you do too. From the moment we started watching movies our education about American culture began.
It’s simply amazing that without ever visiting a country I could tell you so much about it; the famous landmarks, popular food, where the celebrities hang out and even where they make movies. I don’t think I could even tell you as much about my home country!
When I decided a month ago to start planning my trip I thought that it was going to take a lot of effort and time, the truth is that it’s been much easier than I thought it would be. I’d like to share with you what made planning the trip so simple.
Getting a visa waiver to enter America is something I had to do because I can’t get on the plane without it. When I hear the words ‘visa application’ I always think of headaches. The good news is that after I logged on to the ESTA website the authorization process was as simple as could be. Using ESTA I was able to apply for the Visa Waiver Programme, this allows people from eligible countries to visit America for up to 90 days without applying for a visa beforehand.
The best thing about planning my trip to America was finding out that the flights were not as expensive as I first thought. When I clicked search on the booking site I held my breath and was pleasantly surprised when the price came up on screen. Make sure you book in advance so you get the best rates available and don’t book the first flight you find, shopping around is essential.
Have you been to America or are you planning a trip there? I’d love to hear your thoughts, opinions, experiences and tales. All you have to do is pop your musings down in the comment section below this article. I can’t wait to read them all and learning some new tips. It’s great if we, as a travel community, can share with one another and therefore improve everyone’s experiences.
